School Library
The school library is very well utilised and we are continuously buying new books to maintain an up-to-date and relevant catalogue. Each class will visit the library once a week to exchange books and are supported in their book choices by their classroom teacher.
Once a year we hold a book fair, which helps to raise money for new books and we are also grateful for any donations received throughout the year. During Book Week we run a number of initiatives to support reading, such as author visits, student presentations and buddy reading between classes, so keep an eye on the newsletters for upcoming events.
If you have any suggestions for new titles or authors, please do send a note or an email to the teacher in charge of library - Mrs Liz Brown (Room 7) who will see if the item is able to be sourced for you.
Book Week
During Book Week the classes spend an extended time on books and authors. Some classrooms focused on one author and one book, others focused on favourite authors and books. Book Week involves a variety of different activities including the children's favourite which is Buddy Reading. It is lovely to see the older children reading to and reading with our younger children.
Teachers also swap classes to read their favourite stories to each different classroom. We make masks, dress up and share our Book Week work with the whole school at a celebratory parade and as part of Grandparents Day.
