Calf Club 2027

The 2027 Calf Club Day at Tauwhare will be held on Friday 15 October  

Tauwhare Calf Club Dress Up Parade! 

We hold a fancy dress parade at the end of the judging - you can start thinking of ideas for a costume for you and your pet - Pintrest is your friend!  All children and parents must read the costume guidelines before planning their costume. Animal welfare is the top priorty. "The costume should complement your animal, not make your animal uncomfortable"

Gardening Section

All children are eligible to enter the Tauwhare Calf Club competition. Entries are brought along to school on the day of Calf Club, placed on the front deck in the appropriate section, and there is a trophy for the top Junior gardener and one for the top Senior gardener to be won. The attached flyer lists the categories for entries and you can enter as many categories as you like. We ask that the efforts be as much of the children's work as practically possible, and remember to plant in containers you can easily transport to school - you can get planning now!

Art Projects - completed in class throughout the week

During Calf Club week, all children complete various art projects in class to enter into judging on the day. You can view the 2026 timetable of which activities each class did during the week. We have been kindly donated ALL the saucers we need for the sand saucer competition, so you don't need to worry about finding one.

Working Bee for Calf Club Day

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes for Calf Club Day. We always need (and gratefully appreciate!) any and all help we can get. Jobs for the day before include: picking up the marquees from Morrinsville - and taking them back, setting up the rings and marquees and mowing the grass in and leading into the rings. Staff will work alongside you, so no prior knowledge of how Calf Club works is needed! Please contact the office if you think you can help - even an hour makes a big difference

Stewards

We always need stewards for the two lamb/kid rings, and the calf ring. Often these are intermediate, or high school children. They assist the judges, act as 'runners' to pick up the rosettes from the scoring table and bringing back results. Calf rings stewards need to be confident to help with the calves if necessary - especially for the younger children.
