We have a very enthusiastic Kapa Haka performance roopu at Tauwhare School (originally established by Mrs G in 2016) and all students from Year 4 to Year 6 are encouraged to join to learn traditional and contemporary Maori waiata and haka.
In Kapa Haka this year, the students are learning a variety of himene (hymns), waiata (songs), waiata-a-ringa (action songs), mau rakau, poi and haka. They will be performing some items at school events, such as our Matariki celebration and our end-of-year prize giving and celebration.
We welcome any help, so if Kapa Haka is something you would like to be part of, please do come and see us or send us an email. We would love to have more people on board!
Here are links to the lyrics and songs that the Kapa Haka group are learning and where possible, YouTube links to help our students learn the tunes.
Please play the links so the children can keep learning the songs and dances.
