Speech Finals 2011 Our Speech finals were held on Thursday 17 November. Congratulations to all our finalists, the speech topics were varied from informative to personal and humorous. Tori Gilroy with her speech, 'Boredom is Inspiration' was placed third, Ella Silvester with her speech on 'Smiggle' was placed second and Kayla Bradley-Harris with her speech on 'Why Adults Say the Things They Say' was our winner for 2011. Room 5 Kapa Haka performance On Friday Ms Wrigg and room 5 entertained the school at assembly by showing us everything thay had been learning in the Kapa Haka group inour rotation time.
Room 4 Playgrounds In Term One the children in Room 4 were given the challenge of creating a playground suitable for miniature teddy bears. The children needed to design their plan on paper first and then use a variety of materials to create the playground equipment. Once their playground was complete, they took photos of each other and then interviewed each other using EasySpeak microphones. Enjoy!
Red Nose Day 2011 On Thursday all the children donned Red Noses to join in singing You Make the Whole World Smile which is the signature song for Red Nose Day raising funds for Cure Kids Charity. The Cambridge Edition were present so keep your eyes out for some lovely photos in the paper. Tori read a delightful poem and Puhangawai sang then the school made us all smile with singers, guitarists, recorders and drummers all joining in.
The Dinosaur Song Room 4 performed their dinosaur song in assembly today. The song was written by Lachlan and sung to the tune of "Cooler Than Me" by Mike Posner. Following are the lyrics - feel free to sing along!
Room 1's music lesson with Mrs Artis. Each week Room 1 spend 45 minutes learning to play the recorder and the glockenspiel with Mrs Artis. They learn the notes on the recorder and how to keep in time on the glockenspiel.

Choosing our school from across the globe When the Aldred family decided to emigrate from the UK to Hamilton they searched the internet for a school which was in an area in which they desired to live and was the type of school which would suit their children. Emma talks to Sharon Quinn about her experience finding Tauwhare School via the internet and why our website was a major factor in choosing the school for her family.
