Room 3’s Newsletter Welcome to the first term of 2012. My name is Debbie Wrigg and I will be your child’s teacher for the year. This is just a note to say hello and provide some information for Term 1.
Firstly, stationery. The lists have gone out today, if you would like to cover any books, drop me a note and we can send them home. Please feel free to re-use some items from previous years, ie if you have rulers or scissors already then send them along. The children of Room 3 are required to bring their book bags to school every day. I give out weekly homework activities and spelling words (starting next week), and the children will need to read for 10 minutes each night. The choice of reading is up to them, a library book, one from school or one of their own. Please sign the Home Reading Book and jot down the title. This book is also an effective method of communication (I check it every day) so any questions or comments or notes will be read. Our library day is Friday. Swimming happens daily and we are the last class of the day to swim. If your child is not able to swim at any stage please drop me a note. Remember to bring togs every day, we all know that some days start off looking miserable and can end up being very hot. At swimming time it is also important to name any clothing, it is easier to match up lost items that way. Even initials make the job easier, I have permanent markers available in class if you need. This term we will be covering two Key Competencies from the NZ Curriculum, Managing Self and Relating to Others. These competencies help us to live, learn, work, and contribute as active members of any community. The managing self competency is associated with self-motivation, and a “can-do” attitude, relating to others allows us to work together as a classroom unit. We will also begin work on ‘Cultures and Celebrations’, a topic that will continue on in some way throughout the year. This starts with getting to know ourselves and where we are from, the cultures within our room. Finally, feel free to come in and meet me or ask questions. I am looking forward to the year ahead, Thanks, Debbie Wrigg. |

We got broadband today - yeeha! So I thought I'd message you with our e-mail address and a quick note to check whether Samb had been given a statinery list - we don't seem to have one.
Thanks
