A couple of weeks ago Room 2 learnt how important it was to use adjectives in their writing. Our focus for our writing was on all the rain we have had of late.  Room 2 had to decide how to best describe the image of a rainy day.

Learning Intention: We are learning to use adjectives to create clear pictures in our writing.

Room 2 then came together to decide on what they would need to do to be successful with this piece of writing.

We will have been successful when:

We use adjectives to create pictures in the readers mind.

We support our images with other literary devices we know like similes.

We have read back through our work to check it makes sense.

*** Room 2 will also be uploading this work to their own wikispace page soon so keep an eye out there (Room 2 Wikispace) for the children's work as well as any future efforts of theirs. ***

Room 2 - Recounts of the Cold PDF Print E-mail

After the cold snap of mid August that brought bone chilling temperatures to Tauwhare, Room 2 began writing about a moment in that week or another experience when they felt extremely cold.

Our learning intention was to write a recount of a time when we felt really cold.

We knew we would be successful when we

·       Wrote about a ‘moment in time’.

·       Used gems to create cold images.

·       Used a personal voice to describe how we felt.

·       Had painted a picture with words so the reader could clearly understand my message.

·       Had choosen appropriate nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives to make my writing effective.
