In 2011 four of our students attended the Kids Teaching Kids Conference in Adelaide, with four students from Puahue School.  When they returned they presented at the Waikato Museum which was videoed in segments. Click on the links below to view their wonderful work on Healthy Streams.

In 2008 we audited the school vision map taking into account the growth of the school and the new classroom.  Lost Property and Rubbish were still the issues which needed solving.

Rubbish - Pack it in, Pack it out became the rubbish motto, with all packaging going back home inside lunchboxes with the exception of recyclable plastics such as yoghurt pots which we wash and reuse in the classroom.   After Rooms 1, 2 and 3 participated in ZeroWasteEducation units on Reusing/recycling and composting we are trialling food scraps (not meat or dairy) being put into the school compost bin which can then be used on the gardens.   We have cut our rubbish disposal to 2-3 kleensaks per week and about 1 large box of paper to be recycled.  We are also sorting the paper and using the other side before it is recycled.

Lost Property - Wear it in, Wear it out became the lost property motto and the envirogroup spent their lunchtimes handing out house points for those people with their clothing named, this prompted many children to borrow the teachers vivid markers to name their clothing making it much easier to return clothing left in the grounds.  Mrs Grant only had 2-3 items of clothing for the Salvation Army instead of the 2-3kleensaks full as in the past.

Composting - an envirogroup monitor will cut up fruit scraps and put it in the compost bin after lunch eating each day.  No citrus peels thank you.
